Milsim Asia 2017
The Keynote Addresses at this year’s conference will be delivered by Colonel Kam Yean Kong,Head Training & Simulation Centre, Singapore Armed Force and Brigadier Mick Ryan, Director General Training and Doctrine, Forces Command, Australian Army. Colonel Kam Yean Kong will be discussing Objectives and goals for the integration of training platforms for Singapore’s Armed Forces while Brigadier Mick Ryan will focus on Exploring the Live, Virtual and Constructive training mix for Australia’s Army.

Joining them on the Opening Plenary Panel will be Rear Admiral Tatsuya Futakawa, Vice President, JMSDF Command and Staff College and Paul Burton Defence Industry and Budgets, IHS Jane’s. With the topic in focus of do current training programs accurately reflect today’s strategic content? This session places MilSim Asia 2017 in context, examining current training programs within today’s world. Discussion includes:

• A look at US and China military modernisation projects and implications for military training. What are the latest trends? What is going on in cross-domain military simulation? How do visual simulation solutions save money and contribute to training programs?
• What is the impact of new domains of warfare such as space, cyber space and urban terrorism? Are military adequately prepared for a rapidly changing world?
• Are current training and education programs producing the best pipeline of personnel for senior positions? What growth is needed here?
• The rise of social media as an influencer on human terrain and how to simulate it – including adding combat multipliers, winning the hearts of civilian populations and media influence.

Providing an industry perspective are a number of carefully selected case studies from leading providers including Ulf Mielke, Senior Sales Manager Land Simulation, Rheinmetall Defence Electronics GmbH who will talk around the usage of game-engine technology in the field of simulation and training. This presentation will discuss game engines and PC games have become an essential "technology driver" for simulation and training. In the area of table-top and part task training games now cover substantial portions of the military requirements. In the areas of 3D rendering and visualization of physical effects, game engines have reached a substantial advantage over comparable developments in the field of simulation. The presentation will show solutions in the area of gunnery and combat simulation as well as driving simulation based on completed projects and products.

As well as a world class panel of international military and industry experts, we are delighted to announce that we will be joined at this year’s MilSim Asia by over 300 senior representatives from 25 countries, serving in defence training, modelling, simulation and education appointments both in local and international Government and MOD. Alongside the conference will be an industry exhibition showcasing the latest from training and simulation solutions from international industry. This will include the new Simulator Zone which will allow delegates to experience the simulators in an interactive environment.
