Time To Unlearn & Relearn

During a conversation with my friend, I realized something very beautiful. Quoting her - In 5th grade, we learn "Light is a wave", in 8th grade, we learn "Light is a particle" and in 11th, "Light has dual nature". Why aren't we taught in 5th grade that light has dual nature? Naturally we wouldn't understand. Similarly, life teaches you only those lessons that you are capable of grasping at that stage. But some lessons are to be revisited.

As the saying goes "The illiterates of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn".

Below are a few age old statements which most of us have come across. They are spoken out of experience that cannot be denied. But certainly, we do not reach the depth of each lesson/statement; hence form false assumptions in our mind. Time to unlearn and relearn!

  • Truth is bitter
Not really! It might seem so for a few moments, hours or days after discovering it. But ultimately, truth is the sweetest. Hard to agree? If there's a truth in your life you find bitter at this moment, write it down somewhere. I bet, someday you will look back and smile because that day you'd have realized how sweet it indeed was.

  • Money is evil
No, it isn't! The way you use money can be evil. For instance, a pen is good - Pen is mightier than a sword they say. But, what if you use the same pen to stab some-one in the eye? It's the usage that matters! You can earn as much money you want, provided you're earning ethically and spending morally.

  • Don't build castles in the air
"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."
    - Henry David.
You can dream as high as you want, and talk about them as well, as long as you're making enough efforts to fulfill those. If you don't put firm foundation under your castles, the wind might just blow and take your castles away to your neighbor. And if he's prepared enough, he might not take long to build the foundation! Don't worry even if that has happened already. That wasn't the last castle you wanted to build, was it?
This list doesn't end here. I'd love to share many more such statements under this section. Just be ready to 'LUR' - Learn, Unlearn & Relearn! Keep a watch.
