Bucharest, October 29, 2015 – On November 25 – 27, How to Web Startup Spotlight brings at the same table 32 promising startups and 50+ active investors, representatives of top-notch accelerators, experienced mentors, and potential distribution partners. Tech startups looking to close deals and compete for the 20.000 USD cash prizes offered by IXIA, main partner of the program, are invited to submit their application by Friday, October 30, on the program website.

The 4th edition of Startup Spotlight will be organized along with How to Web Conference 2015 and will bring together 32 innovative tech startups from the CEE, selected by a professional jury. During the 3 days of the program, the finalists will get access to unique investment and distribution opportunities, will build valuable connections in the industry and will gain exposure by pitching their product on stage, in front of the How to Web Conference audience. Moreover, they will compete for the 20.000 USD cash prizes offered by IXIA, main partner of the program, and will receive full access tickets to How to Web Conference 2015.

Each of the finalists will attend 12 one-on-one meetings with mentors, investors, and possible commercial partners carefully selected to match their individual development needs. The match-making process is realised by an experienced team, taking into consideration both the profile of each startup, and the mentors’ relevant areas of expertise.

Active investors & accelerator programs mentor the startups

Venture Partner at 500 Startups, Erhan Erdogan joins How to Web Startup Spotlight to assess the teams and find potential investments. From his position, his focus is on assuring the success of Turkish startups and investors. He started his career as an e-business developer at Teknoloji Holding and thereafter became a writer and analyst at Webrazzi, a project manager and evangelist at Sevenload GmbH, a consultant at Frind, and, later on the first employee in the Turkish office of Yandex, the Russian internet giant.

Managing Director of Techstars London, Max Kelly has a long background running innovation and entrepreneurship at Virgin. During the 12 years he worked there, Max was responsible for the strategy of the group and for starting several companies which eventually exited for over $500 million, such as Virgin Insight, Virgin Mobile USA and Canada, or Virgin Healthbank. Alongside his Virgin commitments, Max also Co-Founded lastsecondtickets.com which had a successful exit in 2014.

Programme Director & Head of Engagement at Ignite Accelerator, London, Martyn Davies is a creative developer, product manager, technical consultant and hack day organiser, with first hand experience acquired as former Developer Evangelist at SendGrid, as well as at BBC and Universal Music. He is a trusted mentor in many accelerators across Europe and he is working directly with early-stage startups and sharing his knowledge on building tech products.

Entrepreneur in Residence at 500 Startups, Andy Young helps the teams in the London Distro Dojo with their growth, analytics and product. Andy previously led the launch of Stripe in the UK, founded and grew the membership of GroupSpaces and created Selective Tweets, used by over 1 million people to cross-post between Twitter and Facebook. Andy likes building useful things and using technology to help people.

Vladimir Oane wore several hats in his career, from product manager or technology chief to being a marketer. He is the Co-Founder of UberVU, one of the first all-in-one social media services in the world, acquired by Hootsuite in 2014. Visionary and creative, he has a wide experience with companies in various stages of growth, from their early days to global scaling and beyond.

Columnist at Inc.com & Chief Marketing Technologist, CCP, Travis Wright has helped hundreds of B2B and B2C companies, from high-growth startups to SMBs and Fortune 100 companies, to build their own ideal marketing technology stack that delivers ROI. Among his core areas of expertise there are digital media, social business strategies for marketing, sales, and talent acquisition.

Besides, the 32 startups that will attend Startup Spotlight 2015 will have the unique opportunity to meet possible commercial partners, relevant for their own distribution needs. Among them there are Adriana Iordan, Senior Director of Product Management, Avangate; Stejara Pircan, Commercial Director, Emag; or Dan Calugareanu, Founder of Alliance Computers, as well as of the private angel investors’ network TechAngels.

Startup Spotlight is a program developed in partnership with IXIA, with the support of Telekom Romania, Bitdefender, CyberGhost, Microsoft, Avangate, hub:raum, the Canadian Embassy in Romania, Mozilla, and Okapi Studio, which will take place on November 25 to 27 in Bucharest. Tech startups looking for funding, potential commercial partners, getting into an accelerator, or media exposure & visibility, can submit their application until Friday, October 30, on the program website. The finalists will be selected by a professional jury and the final results will be announced on Thursday, November 5th.

Startup Spotlight is organized along with How to Web Conference 2015, the most important event on tech innovation and entrepreneurship in South Eastern Europe. The conference brings together 1000+ startup founders, product managers, developers, online marketers & community leaders from all around the CEE. Beyond high-quality content, including case studies and hands-on talks on different topics, the attendees have great networking opportunities by connecting with the who’s who in the regional tech industry.
