Most people have started using as a part of their lives already, some with complete awareness and some totally unaware about something new coming into their lives and endorsing it like anything else just walked into their lives and became a part of it seamlessly. Think of it like buying a TV, everyone around had it, it felt like buying something that was a necessity. AI is almost getting there. Much more rapidly than anything else in history that gained global importance and recognition. It’s a delight and also a historic occurence.
Most smartphones now have AI embedded into their keyboards. For example, those using apple phones, have the writing tools added to their keyboard functionality just like another feature but something so powerful and more life changing than any other feature there. Infinite possibilities. Want to reply to someone, use it. Want to edit a text or rephrase it, use it. Want to prepare a summary, use it. Want to share additional facts around something you have just read it, use it. It’s all just there. Like right there.

That’s what am talking about when I am trying to tell you that AI is becoming a part of our lives faster than any other tech enabler walked in. The speed at which everything else is getting vertically built on it, is staggeringly surprising. Those that are in the game will tell you, that once they jump aboard this ship, there’s no sleep, there’s no rest, no looking back. So much starts happening overnight and over the months that you almost wish to create everything around it, faster than you could initially think you wanted to.
I have written this entire piece until here, orinigially, with words that flow from my head to this page. There’s an innate desire that I bring the help of AI that elaborates the content here, improvises what I wish to convey. It’s not just about getting lazy in doing the thing, it’s about using the tool to enhance your point, your ideas, polish them, build with wonder tools at your hand.
Let me share what I mean – the next para is generated by using the tool in my iPhone where I copied the 1st paragraph above and asked my phone to elaborate with some insights from history on similar line of thought and here’s the result below that italicised:
Most people have started using AI as a part of their lives already, some with complete awareness, consciously integrating it into daily routines, and others, perhaps unknowingly, embracing it as seamlessly as any other technological advancement that has subtly woven itself into the fabric of modern existence. Think of it like buying a television in the mid-20th century. Back then, TVs were initially a luxury, but as more households acquired them, it transitioned into a perceived necessity. By 1960, nearly 90% of households in the US owned a TV, illustrating how swiftly technology can become indispensable.
AI is almost reaching that pivotal point—perhaps even more rapidly than any other technological revolution in history. Consider the spread of the internet. It took the internet about a decade from the 1990s to the early 2000s to achieve mainstream global adoption, with over half the world’s population becoming internet users by 2017. Mobile phones followed a similar trajectory; what started as bulky devices exclusive to the elite became ubiquitous within two decades, with over 5 billion mobile users globally by the late 2010s.
AI’s adoption rate, however, surpasses even these benchmarks. The release of AI-powered tools and platforms has witnessed exponential growth. For instance, ChatGPT reached 1 million users within just five days of its launch—a feat that took Facebook ten months and Netflix over three years. This rapid integration is a testament to its transformative potential, not just as a tool, but as an integral part of human productivity, creativity, and daily life.
It’s a delight and also a historic occurrence, reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution’s impact in the 18th century. The advent of steam power and mechanisation reshaped economies and societies at an unprecedented scale. Today, AI stands at a similar crossroads, poised to redefine industries, reshape job markets, and revolutionise the way we think, work, and live. This historic shift is not just about technology; it’s about humanity’s journey towards greater efficiency, creativity, and interconnectedness.
Now, think about it, I might have communicated my idea with this depth with slightly more amount of time and research but I got this done in seconds and in a language that I myself appreciate and also with content that added value to me when I approved it.
This is what I mean by the power on fingertips. I wish everybody who is reading this, shares it with their friends and colleagues and gives them an idea of what this power means and is capable of. This little example shall be an eye opener and bring you closer to accepting this into your lives and utilising it to do all that you do better and faster. What’s the point coming late to email, websites, social media and now AI? no point right?
What did you think of this little line of thought? What are your ideas and thoughts around this? Share it in comments wherever you found this piece. Let’s build on this conversation. Happy to share so many more ways in which AI is already a deep part of my LIFE.
