Laravel Bengaluru brought together around 80 developers on September 5 for its quarterly meetup, held at the Samagata Foundation as part of Bengaluru Tech Week 2026.

The afternoon mixed technical talks, live demos and community discussion, and pulled in a good number of people who were new to the framework alongside more experienced developers.

One thing that stood out was the turnout from women, who made up roughly a quarter of the attendees. That is among the strongest showings at a Laravel Bengaluru event so far.

The programme ran three sessions covering payment systems, AI agents and open source, with speakers travelling in from Chennai, Pune and Ahmedabad for the event. Saravana Thiyagarajan opened with “Why processing payments is harder than it looks,” a talk on the practical difficulties of building and working with payment systems.

Punyapal Shah followed by tracing the path from using open source software to contributing and eventually maintaining projects, and laid out concrete steps developers can take to get more involved in the tools they rely on. Jigar Dhulla closed the technical programme with a live demo of an agentic Telegram bot built in Laravel, which led to an active Q&A.

For people seeing Laravel for the first time, the sessions were a chance to watch the framework handle very different problems, from payment processing and bots to open source workflows. The talks were followed by informal networking, which gave developers time to carry on the conversations that started during the sessions.

The event wrapped with two community giveaways. Yogitha N won Offline Influencer for bringing the most people to the meetup, and Soumyadeep Bohidar won Most Impressions on Social Media for the widest reach on his posts during the event. Both received goodies.

The meetup was organised by Shruti Balasa, Tarunkumar N Bagmar and Poornima Patil, with support from the wider Laravel Bengaluru community. Volunteers Saravana Thiyagarajan, Preethi Suresh and Mitesh Rathod also helped with speaker support, registration and on-ground coordination through the afternoon.

The event was hosted at the Samagata Foundation, with snacks sponsored by Laravel and goodies by JetBrains.
