There are many myths and notions about Meditation in people's mind today. They fear that meditation is like getting yourself hypnotized and then they get stuck and can't come out of a trance at the end of it. They say that we have been breathing from the time we were born. What's different to be learnt now? It's only human to breathe. Some think that they haven't reached the golden years yet to start meditating and have many years to get there.

Well there are many benefits of meditation which will help you in your personal & professional lives, only if you try and make that change for a better future. Mentioned below are the details for a better understanding and information on meditation.

Meaning of Meditation: Meditation is not a technique but a way of life. Meditation means 'a cessation of the thought process'. It describes a state of consciousness, when the mind is free of scattered thoughts and various patterns. The observer (one who is doing meditation) realizes that all the activity of the mind is reduced to one.

Benefits of Meditation: Meditation is a tool for calming our mind and gaining better control over it; this is something that all of us could work on and can gain benefit from in all areas of our life.

1. Change your perspective to life by affirmations: - With the high levels of stress we have to deal with everyday it's important to keep at least 15 minutes of time for ourselves (me time) to restore our sanity. When our minds are so puzzled with a 100 things running in our little heads, things to do all at the same time through the day, the pressure of what next that haunts you every minute, you cannot be focused and feel confident. There starts the problem and it feels just like you're sitting on a time bomb because you wouldn't know where to start and time is ticking every second. Does this sound familiar? It is critical to get your thoughts clear so you can focus and prioritize on work, and family too which is equally important. Meditation will help you connect with yourself, get focused and have clear thoughts to make the right decisions at the right time which will lead you to success.

2. Enhance the power of creative thinking: - Being creative is about more than being artistically inclined; it is about the ability to generate new ideas, build upon existing information and knowledge and uncover solutions to problems. The ability to think creatively is crucial to business success. There are many different ways to meditate, but when it comes to enhancing creativity, research suggests the most effective kind is where the meditator simply observes feelings, thoughts and sensations without directing his attention to any particular object or concept. Research has found that this type of meditation improved divergent thinking or the type of thinking involved in the generation of new ideas.

3. Meditation helps heal and balance your body chakras:- Chakras are centers of energy, located on the midline of the body. There are seven of them, and they govern our psychological properties. The chakras located on the lower part of our body are our instinctual side, the highest ones our mental side. If the chakras are imbalanced you would face emotional, physical and financial imbalance. If you want to know which of your chakras are weak and which are active, take an online test This would give you an insight and you can start working on them and see how they improve your life drastically.

Each Chakra in the body represents a colour and certain qualities, each one of them mentioned below :

Important tips to remember
  • Once you have made up your mind and would like to practice Meditation please ensure that you are associated with a certified teacher/guru who can guide you through the process and address any queries/concerns which you may face initially.
  • The best time to meditate is early morning and around sunset. However, you need to see what suits your schedule best and stick to that time every day. Do not meditate between 9 PM - 3 AM as the energies in the universe are the least at these times and would not be of any help.
  • Meditate on an empty stomach as this is a form of exercise or 2-3 hours after you have had your last meal.
  • Meditation should be done after you have had your bath for better results.
  • Do not meditate sitting on your bed, try and face the east direction while meditation.

Quotes from Dr. Deepak Chopra:
  • "Nothing is more important than reconnecting with your bliss. Nothing is as rich. Nothing is more real."
  • "Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future."
  • "If you focus on success, you'll have stress. But if you pursue excellence, success will be guaranteed."
