What does reading give us?

I went around to my networks and asked what reading gave them, what it meant to them. Why should we read at all? With all that is going on in the world today, why should we even bother? The answer was simple.

"Reading is an escape. I read to lose myself in different worlds." -Author Emerald Barnes

"I can escape into another world and see it through someone else's eyes and imagination!" Avid reader and aspiring writer Jessica Lind-Wentz

Reading is an escape from the daily stress, a way to unwind, travel to other worlds, be and become anything even if just for a short while. It is an adventure.

"On NPR that a study was done which proved that reading, stimu-lates ALL of the brain functions" ~Shalla Radiolady, literary lover.

Reading is not only stimulating, a coping mechanism, it can be healing, and we always take something from a good book with us.

Children learn about emotions, conflict, how to react or not to react. As a writer I will always write a piece, or a novel with a message. Reading is healing, soothing uplifting and fun. It gives us hope, joy, adventure and sparks the imagination. For aspiring writers the best way to learn how to write is by reading. Reading is not only a vital tool into life itself, its enriching in so many other ways. When reading there are things the reader will immediately lock onto, that the characters feel and experience similar events, and how they dealt with difficult situation. For a moment you also put yourself in that characters shoes, thinking about things you never had before. This in turn sparks the love for reading and experiencing more. We live to feel things, and the best way to feel is through someone else's words that lead you into your own imagination. Nothing is as stimu-lating as your own imagination - there where all you're not dealt with issues hide. Reading is a way of healing and dealing, learning and living. So start them young and inspire others to read - give them a gift that will keep on giving.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut! Bottom of Form.
