National Youth Day - SEPC
The mass of the population known for immense potential, capabilities, hidden talents and high energy is none other than the Youth. The youth of today definitely possess all these but lacks direction in which their capabilities are to be channelized. If they are properly channelized, they understand the purpose for which they can utilize their talents and can undoubtedly create wonders. The potential of youth was realized then only by Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda is one such personality whose life principles should be known to every youth of the world.
On the occasion of National Youth Day, birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on 12th of January, different people might celebrate this day in different ways. A set of youth in Banglaore, basically students executed a project called Sports Equipments Procurement Campaign (SEPC), an initiative of IU Cares Foundation. The objective of SEPC is to reuse the used resources (sports equipments and toys) by distributing them among the kids who are denied of those privileges. Sports equipments were collected from various sports shops, houses, schools, and general public of Bangalore. This project was also simultaneously executed in 2 different cities of Karnataka namely - Chalkere of Chitradurga district and Mysore. The total number of toys and sports equipments collected in a matter of 3 days (9th, 10th and 11th of January) collectively by 12 people was 785 units.
All the collected equipments were distributed in 2 different Government Schools of Bangalore namely Police Quarters Government School in Magadi road Tollgate area and Government School, Kethamaranahalli. Close to 610 students were impacted through the project. The students were inspired and were taught to make the best utilization of the resources given to them.
The sports shops which majorly contributed for the cause were Champion Sports of Basaveshwaranagar, Raghavendra Sports of Vijaynagar, Olympic Sporting Co of Gandhi Nagar and Pinewoods School of Prashanthnagar. The team of SEPC are thankful to all the people who directly or indirectly joined hands for this cause.
